The Sonoma County / Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire

 

On October 8, 2017, at 9:43 PM, a fire started near Calistoga in Sonoma County. By the end of the next day, fanned by winds reaching 60 mph, the fire had burned 25,000 acres and destroyed several thousand structures.  By then 22 people had been killed and most of the 5,500 structures ultimately destroyed were lost.

The intensity and destructiveness of the fire is hard to describe, as is the speed at which it moved.
